BEO cleans up at The International Property Awards

Corks were popping and cheers went up when the news broke that despite difficult trading circumstances across the global market, BEO Mall has proved to be a standout success by raking in several big awards in The International Property Awards. Atterbury Europe Development Manager Roux Gerber shares the excitement.

Congratulations! Can you share some background on the awards?
The International Property Awards in its own words celebrate the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real-estate industry. It’s considered the most prestigious property awards in the world, and an International Property Award is a world-renowned mark of excellence. Awards are given annually in five categories:  Development, Architecture, Interior Design, Real-Estate Agency, and Hospitality; and entries are judged by a panel of over 90 highly respected worldwide industry experts, so an award is really a strong peer endorsement.

Is this the first year Atterbury Europe entered?
Yes, this was the first year that Atterbury Europe entered two projects (in Romania and Serbia) for The International Property Awards.  Mall of Cyprus won a Silver award in 2019 for the redevelopment and expansion of the mall (Cyprus Retail Excellence Award).  We are certainly following the dream of our founders to develop better places through “a matter of association”.

Which of these awards are you bringing home?
We are extremely proud to have won awards in three of these divisions, and in all three categories – regional, continental and international, ahead of 30 participants! BEO Shopping Centre won Best Retail Architecture: Europe & International and also Best Retail Interior: Europe & International. These accolades were in addition to BEO also winning the regional (Serbia) category in both these categories, as well as in the Retail Development category.

Atterbury Europe and MPC Properties are also proud to have additionally won the regional awards for Commercial High Rise Architecture and Commercial High Rise Development for their USCE Tower Two development. We’re also thrilled to have won the regional award for Best Mixed Use Development in Romania with our Romanian partners Iulius, for Iulius Town in Timisoara.

Much to celebrate indeed, despite the pressures of the current economic situation!

What do you think clinched the deal for BEO Mall? What is it that makes this property so award worthy?
BEO’s design and interior speaks for itself and really brought a new dimension of shopping experience in Belgrade. It’s open, fresh, green, light and just altogether a beautiful, balanced shopping environment.

Do you display these prestigious awards anywhere so that the customers in the mall can see it, and take pride?
The awards will be home in the Centre Management office. We’ll share photos on BEO’s Facebook page and website to ensure that all our followers have an opportunity to see them!
