For the proposed Mall of Limassol, the process started with obtaining the necessary development permits. This can take anywhere from a few months to several years, depending on the project’s environmental impact and alignment with the authorities’ vision for the city’s future growth.

Having laid the groundwork with comprehensive designs and sustainability community integration strategies, Atterbury Europe is currently far advanced in the permitting stage of the proposed development of Mall of Limassol. “In order to get approval and consent from the Public Authorities in Cyprus to proceed with the proposed development, the pre-work and studies needed to be done to support, substantiate and demonstrate the integration of the proposed development into the community seamlessly. We have done the required designs, studies, consultations and motivations in our applications and we are far advanced in the public consultation process to obtain feedback and conditions on how to proceed to the final steps in the development process,” explains Gerber.

The public consultation, a cornerstone of the process, is ready to be concluded in the next few months, with the granting of planning permission development rights anticipated in the third quarter of this year. This paves the way to start with the construction phase in the final quarter of 2024.

The architectural countdown: A two-year journey

Gerber remains confident that, once given the nod by authorities, the proposed Mall of Limassol will happen within a two-year construction timeline. This brisk pace is testament to Atterbury Europe’s forward-thinking design philosophy in doing a lot more detailed work during the planning phase, reducing the workload required for commencement of the execution phase.

“We have been pro-active in our design approach to be able to deliver the project in the shortest possible time, once we have the green light from the authorities to proceed with the execution of the development,” elaborates Gerber.
