Time flies when you’re having fun! It’s been a decade since Atterbury Europe first set out to transform the retail landscape and we’ve had a lot of fun on the journey so far – plus shed our fair share of blood, sweat and tears! We take a fun (don’t tell the accountants and lawyers) look at the numbers behind 10 remarkable years of developing incredible spaces that we are immensely proud of.

1 Team (Family)
It all starts here! We see ourselves as a family of collaborators who get things done, working tirelessly to shape the developments we call our own. From airports (we have serious air miles) and boardrooms to shopping centres and office buildings, our team turns ideas into bricks and mortar.

2 Shareholders
Strong partnerships make for a solid foundation. The Atterbury team and its shareholders are in it for the long haul, developing future-fit shopping centres and office spaces across Europe. Long may our successful collaboration continue (and thank you).

3 Countries
From South Africa to Europe, Atterbury Europe’s investment footprint spans three countries, with significant footprints in Romania, Serbia and Cyprus.

4 Seasons in a day
Okay, the weather can be temperamental, especially at our HQ in Leiden in The Netherlands but it also adds to the charm of operating in Europe! Rain, snow, sun and wind – we take it all in our stride, because nothing stops progress at Atterbury Europe (and it gives us a good excuse to visit South Africa regularly for sunny skies and family time).

5 New Atterbury kiddos
We’ve welcomed five new Atterbury babies into the family! Our team doesn’t just build shopping centres – they’re also building the next generation. Talk about productivity!

6 South Africans
Saffas are known for our diversity, resilience, work ethic and sexy accent (Google it – SA’s Afrikaans accent was voted the second sexiest accent in the world by Enjoy Travel’s 1.5 million readers…). We also count Nelson Mandela, Elon Musk, Charlize Theron, Trevor Noah, Charlene Princess of Monaco and the Springboks as our own. We are proud of our South African roots and happy to have six Afrikaans-speaking Saffas in our team.

Small but mighty, this number represents our lean team, who collectively punch well above their weight. From project managers to accountants and legal eagles, each of our seven employees is a key player in our success story.

Our developments stretch across eight bustling cities. Whether it’s Cluj, Limassol, Cyprus or Belgrade, we’re bringing world-class developments to some of Europe’s most exciting urban centres.

9 Lives
We are survivors and our team is nothing if not tenacious and committed. We see things through and believe in celebrating success and learning from things that don’t go our way. We like celebrating, so we are extra motivated to achieve what we set out to do!
